Set in the picturesque countryside north of Edmonton near Bon Accord, Sprout Farms Apple Orchards offers you a unique opportunity to pick fresh apples in Alberta.
Sprout Farms was established in 1980 as a small, family-run nursery specializing in growing fruit trees for northern climates. We grew from a small, weekend business to shipping trees to every province in Canada. The nursery business was disbanded in 2004 as the family grew older and the members went in different directions. The decision was made to turn out existing demonstration orchard into a U-Pick and to plant out our remaining stock to establish new orchards. We now have approximately 700 trees in the ground. The farm continued to evolve with the addition of sheep. We were initially given two sheep of unknown breed, which has grown into a flock of 36 with the addition of purebred Jacob, Scottish Blackface, Southdown Babydoll and Shetland sheep. We now have purebred and some interesting crosses of these breeds that have been producing lovely fleeces sought after by spinners and weavers. The primary use of our sheep friends is to mow grass on our farm in an environmentally sustainable manner.

We began to grow a limited number of trees again in 2010 when Julie and Joachim expressed an interest in learning the art of fruit tree growing. Under Amanda’s tutelage, they have successfully grown five tree crops. We have a great selection of apple trees available in 2017.more...See more text
