BC Hydro is a Crown corporation, and one of the largest electric utilities in Canada. Our mandate is to generate, purchase, distribute and sell electricity. We are owned by the government and the people of British Columbia. We report through the Ministry of Energy and Mines. In 2015, we generated 98% of our electricity from clean and renewable sources. We operate 31 hydroelectric facilities and two thermal generating plants, with the bulk of our generation coming from dams on the Peace and Columbia river systems. We deliver electricity to customers through a network of over 78,000 kilometres of transmission and distribution lines.

    Greatly managed crown corporation, but the shortage that occurred in 2015 took too long to fix. Otherwise they are a good company with great electricity prices. One of the cheapest in the world
