For Anita Cheung, Evian Macmillan and Hiroko Demichelis, the goal is simple: make meditation accessible.
“We all bring to it very different experiences, but we have the same vision,” Anita explains. “That means making it modern, relevant and interesting to the average person.”
And ever since opening Moment Meditation in October of 2016, its co-founders have achieved exactly that, serving an ever-expanding network of enthusiasts and young professionals, both around their downtown studio and beyond.
“It's been popular not just with people who know what meditation is about, but also with beginners,” Anita adds. “We want to break down the stereotype of what it looks like to be someone who meditates. There's a lot of research that's come out about mindfulness. Meditation and mindfulness in general are great for mental health. And physical health, too.”
