I just ordered breaded shrimp & chicken balls there today; I will NEVER be eating there again. The chicken balls have barely any chicken & taste off. I now, also have lovely good poisoning. Goodbye Blossom City, you are no longer in my sites!
I've been here for lunch/dinner but had take out from Blossom City until tonight. The General Chicken was amazing. It holds it's own in a sea of szechuan dishes. That's because it isn't; really. The meal arrived in a timely fashion and was hot. Was impressed with the steamed veggies, huge chunks of zucchini was surprising to find. I did find however that the chicken balls were (though the most stereotypical 'chinese' food) over-battered and too doughy. Also the woman who took my order on the phone was a bit prompt, if not rude. I asked for my total and she said $53 and hung up. The meal did however cost $61 when the food came. I don't think she added the tax. I would eat in at this place again (it's just so cute) and order from here again though.
Delicious food! I don't know why the other reviews are so bad, but this was by far the best chinese food I have ever had! I went in with my friend and the service was awesome! We were seated immediately, and our food came in about 5-10 minutes! The owner was so nice, and the atmosphere was cozy! The food was delicious! YOU MUST try the general chicken! I can see why blossom city is so famous for it! Overall, I'm coming again soon!
We have been clients and patrons of Blossoms for years and probably since it opened but have noticed a decline in quality in recent visits. My wife says the restaurant is fine at the noon hour and worse in the evening and this visit confirmed that observation.Service was rushed and understaffed for a busy New Years Eve food was cold and not the taste that I remenber raving about when they first opened. Had the Sweet and Sour soup which I always enjoyed nothing...then the General Chicken and Sprevious both served with sticky cold white rice and a disappointing veggie dish. Sorry for the bad reviw but managment needs to know that one of the previous premier Chinese Restaurants west of the GTA has fallen from grace and we will not be back.
the rice was terrible , really greassy and it was like it was made in large batches and reheated ,. The rice was chewy and oily The rest of the food was average , there no original items on the menu I would not order again and the person on the phone was rude I suspect they will be out of business within the year The only reason they are still in business is cheap lunch in a area where there is alot of trafic .
We ordered the hot & sour soup, General Chicken and General Tso shrimp. Everything was incredibly sweet. The soup isn't supposed to be sweet & sour; it's supposed to be HOT & sour! The shrimp was supposed to be hot and spicy, or so it said on the menu, but it was drenched in sweet & sour sauce. The chicken was the best part of the meal and was mediocre at best. I have a couple of favourite places to go in Toronto's Chinatown and this place is nowhere near as good. Disappointed.
The food is tasty, not too overpowering with any one flavour. Not as greasy as a number of other restaurants are. They have a good online menu and fast delivery times. I would say this is our preferred Chinese food restaurant.
This was a delivery situation and the worst i've ever experienced with Chinese food--anywhere. They forgot the sauces for two dishes, did not include the normal plum sauce etc. for the egg rolls/spring rolls or the soups and the main dish we ordered--mixed seafood with black bean sauce was HORRIBLE. Fifteen dollars for four shrimps, one scallop cut in half and a bunch of green pepper. It was awful!!!! Cost us over eighty dollars-- tried calling to get our order straight with no answer and the poor kids had to go without the normal s/s etc. as well. We don't recommend. This place was good back in the day but something has happened. PS> i will be calling tomorrow to complain as well. It was that messed up and they would not answer the phone calls tonight at all. Very bad service and the food has gone downhill.
We've had average take out from here before but their set menus all have a lot of fried food on so we decided to order from the main menu. The spring roll had only a few pieces of carrot and cabbage in, the shanghai noodles had small strips of tough pork that tasted metallic and there were only three shrimp in a large order. The sauce that covered the noodles was bitter. The orange beef was supposed to be spicy but only had areas where it was spicy, otherwise it was sickly sweet. Not a good experience, we're rethinking going back even for the average tasting set meals now. I noticed all the rave reviews are from 2008 and since then it hasn't been too good. Wish I'd read first and ordered (or not) later!
Just because its Burlington doesn’t mean food can’t be authentic. We had been looking for a restaurant in Burlington that served decent authentic Chinese food so we could avoid the drive into Toronto but this place isn’t it. We ordered a prawn dish, beef dish, fried rice and a low mein and both main dishes were drenched in the same cherry sauce that they serve at any average Chinese buffet. It was sooo sweet. The noodles we ordered had obviously been poached and not sautéed in the wok and lacked flavour. There were no chopsticks anywhere in sight. The tea was nice and the service was ok. Would not be going back ever.
Food is good quality and cooked well but uses sweet sauces to coat everything, we ordered beef with "Hong Kong style sauce" and a seafood dish but both came covered in the same sweet plumb sauce. Uses low quality egg noodles in noodle dishes but vegetables are fresh and cooked well. Egg roll was obviously cooked from frozen and was cold in the middle. Typical Chinese food for the Burlington area. A good food match for the type of people in the area but authentic it is not. Service is great. wait staff are very friendly.
I love this place, the people and the food! They are brilliant folks who are so very kind. The food and value are fantastic. I highly recommend it.
It has delicious food. One thing I would change about it would be to deliver before 4. I love there food and I've had every birthday dinner there. It is delicious
The food here is amazing, the general chicken is easily their best dish, with the Singapore vermicelli coming a close second. The Lunch special (General Chicken, fried rice) is a great deal, I think it's $5.80 plus a drink so $6.80. The service is good unless they are packed which sometimes happens on Friday around lunch time. when theres a few empty tables they serve everyone promptly, but when the tables are all full, well, they don't have enough staff to handle it. But that rarely happens. And Scullinda (one of the reviewers a few reviews below) does not know what she is talking about there is no MSG in their food (says so on the delivery menu). I definitely suggest you stop by there one day for lunch if you're downtown
This please is one of the best places to eat in burlington, been here many many times, its cheap and the lunch special is amazing and the service is always great, ignore the bad reviews, seriously the place rocks!
What a wonderful sense of home this restaurant gives me when I visit. I am greeted by pleasant staff and a hello from the owner. Food is always superb, and served with a smile. I highly recommend this little gem be it for lunch or dinner, I always leave completely statisfied. Many thanks.
DEEP FRIED SPRING ROLLS - Not only unhealthy, but had no flavor, good thing it came with a bowl of sweet and sour! VEGGIE LO-MEIN - Hardly Tastey with a SNOT-LIKE texture, if I wanted soup I'd ask for soup... which was pretty good by the way. SHRIMP CHOW MEIN, nice shrimp, but WAY too saucey... Although the server was authentic, the food WAS NOT! We didn't even get chop sticks with our meal - pfft, I do belive white people can use sticks to eat too. Anyways - TOO PRICEY, TOO SAUCY, TOO MSG-Y can you say BLOATED!!! Took a few hours of recovery after eating this meal.
We have enjoyed Chinese food in many countries, including China. The food here is excellent, well prepared and very fresh. Most times we enjoy takeout. It is a small, family owned and run establishment. We always pickup our order and it is always ready and piping hot. We have also had Blossom City cater to some large parties. Peter, the owner is extremely helpful at chosing the amount of servings and the dishes that do well at a buffet dinner. Our out of town guests often request Blossom City when they visit Burlington. When dining in, try some of the "Sizzling" dishes, they are fantastic! The lunch specials are a very good deal and the restaurant can be quite busy at that time, as many who work downtown have discovered this little gem!
Great combo, extremely tasty, big portions, fast service, great prices.
It’s too bad the management here has no concept of what customer service is. I’ve been here many times in the past, but today was the last straw. The food here is definitely not worth the price and the service is atrocious at best (don’t take my word for it, just take a look at the other reviews here). When I finally raised my concerns to the manager (in a calm and rational way), I encountered great hostility. This is no way to run a business (in Canada at least) and as a result they have lost my business.
