No reason to go back
Kept seeing the ad for this place in the Entertainment Book....sort of presented itself like an 'East Side Marios' level Italian food independant. One Saturday in Spring 2012, family was shopping in the area, so we thought we'd give it a shot for lunch. It's part of a small / mid-size hotel on the Service Road. So, in a nutshell....dated decor (early 80s) and definitely not on the level of East Side in the Italian department (not that East Side is super authentic to begin with, right?). Saw two taps behind the bar, so I ordered a beer....no beer available, their taps 'weren't working'. Not a good start. First thing I ordered off the menu was their house burger.....they were out of them because 'they had a lot of people in the night before'. Hmm. Sooo....this is a new thing I guess? no one had time all morning to go out and get more product? you only order a tiny amount of your house special? lol. Settled on their philly cheesesteak type sandwich...was ok, but not Italian (over half the menu isn't despite the logo and promotion of the place as an Italian eatery)....and clearly it was a few things put together (meat, sauce, green peppers...)and heated up out back, not made from scratch. My wife's lasagna was ok....looked heat and serve too but she said it tasted ok, though greasy. Our little one got chicken fingers....well, they're pre-bought heat and serve of course. Service was ok until we had to pay.....server / bartender disappeared for an extended period of time. Finally went up to the bar and waited another ten minutes before someone came out so I could pay. Oakville has a lot of quality places to eat...this isn't one of them in the end. Really also feel the advertising for the place is misleading, it's not an Italian eatery, it's a little hotel restaurant trying to 'dress itself up' as more. Nothing there to make us want to return.
