We order from here regularly, we have only ordered the Thai items a couple of times. WE LOVE THE HAKKA dishes. It is very difficult to find any good hakka restaurants in the area especially oshawa/whitby area. Our regular dishes are the: -Bombay chicken -any of the chili or manchurian chicken or beef or shrimp (the shrimp dishes are a little smaller than the chicken or beef )but very tasty. -pad thai/ hakka special chow mein We really like the fact that they have come to know us so when we ask for extra spicy it is extra spicy, never been disappointed. If you are into this type of food then it is definately worth a try. We don't eat in because of our kids but the atmosphere seems very pleasant when we have picked up food. I
Have been going to Go For Thai consistently over the past 18 months since it opened actually and have enjoyed every meal. HAve brought my sister, parents, and friends on different occasions. Stay with the same meal usually. The Chicken Pumpkin soup is DELiCIOUS. The curry's are GREAT. I have experimented with the appetizers(rating of 2 out of 5) and recall the Thai Sampler for Two (rating 1 out of 5) which suprises me that it is not a winner. Overall, I keep going back and am pleased!
Tried this place last weekend. Staff was very friendly and the food was good. Neither my friend or I had any complaints. We both took home leftovers and all we ordered was a main dish. It was a lot of food! Btw, they make a mean Shirley Temple.
I purchased a coupon off wag jag- $40 worth of food for $20. Im writing this review because i could not find any before i bought my coupon. Last night my boyfriend and i went for dinner. First impression seemed great. The restaurant appeared clean and the server was very pleasant. Also, the beer and wine menu was cheaper than most restaurants. To start, we ordered fresh rolls and chicken statay skewers. The fresh rolls had very little veg being mostly stuffed with rice and cellophane noodles. The chicken skewers were no different than something i could have made for myself. The statay sauce was similar to melted crunchy peanut butter with a little Tabasco sauce. For our entrees, we ordered seafood stir fry and seafood pad Thai. Both dishes we have ate in many different restaurants and have never been disappointed. The seafood dishes were priced $2-$3 more than the chicken and beef dishes and most did not come with rice or noodles. My dish (chicken stir fry) was ok. The sauce was nice and not too spicy, the 3 shrimp i got were good and the rice that i ordered (at an extra cost) was also good. However, the seafood in both dishes was below average. The squid in my boyfriend’s dish was completely uneatable. It was rubbery, chewy and unappetizing on his plate. The scallops in both dishes were starchy and the mussels in my dish were very fishy. Also, the menu stated crab as part of the seafood medley. However, it was not crab! It was Alaskan Pollock fake imitation crab. Both dishes we disappointing and because we were using a coupon we picked out what we could eat and did not complain. In short, if you do go to this restaurant do not eat the seafood unless you like paying to feel a little grossed out. The beef and chicken dishes may be better but i assume nothing you couldn’t make at home. There are so many better choices for Asian cuisine out there that are well worth your money. This meal would have cost us $55 without the coupon.
Came across this place in a little plaza and gave it a try for lunch on a whim. Liked the menu selection and unique dishes offered. We ordered from the lunch specials a Hakka fried rice and a beef dish. Quality of preparation and quantity were good. Enjoyed the unique flavours in the dishes. Server was attentive. Food prices look reasonable. Will definitely come back to try more food.
