the food is good service is polite?
Chicken Chopped Salad: HONESTLY ONE OF THE BEST SALADS I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! Try it and you will know what i am talking about! It is a mesculin/sping mix with a homemade italian dressing. Has walnuts, goat cheese, tomatoes, and crispy grilled chicken on top in a huge bread bowl! The bread that the bowl was made of tasted great as well...i almost ate the whole bowl too :)
My pizza's bottom was TOTALLY burned. Toppings were frugal. Thought I'd give then a try, but I won't order there again. I'll just stick to my usual pizza place.
Birthday party for 22 proved to be disappointing due to the quality of the food. The appetizer platter tasted like fish and the oil used to deep fry was too old. Chicken Caesar Salad with 3 small slices of chicken, limp Romaine, and dressing that was way too oily. Panzerotti was so tough and greasy, steak knifes couldn't cut into them easily. Way too much bread and not enough filling. Coffee was terrible. It's not the Franco's we remembered from bygone days. It's doubtful our group will return.
We used to go there back in the early 90's all the time. After it was sold, we went less frequently. The one thing you can depend on though is getting the roof of your mouth burned on their pizza. But it is just not the same. The food tastes different and the ambiance of the place has changed. Yes all restaurants change with the times but I can't explain it. Franco's just isn't the same. We'll still drop in now and then, they make the best gnocchi.
We went for a family get together (8 adults and 2 kids), and the service was very friendly, drinks and food came quickly. The atmosphere was comfortable. I had the Northern Italian Chicken, which had a tastey white wine cream sauce with mushrooms, but it came with spaghetti meat sauce (the meat sauce was ok, but nothing special), was served on two separate square plates, which was very awkward. Having the two not-so-complimentary sauces served together was boring - I would have preferred my chicken served with a spaghetti tossed in olive oil, garlic & herb, so that I could enjoy it with the white wine sauce of the chicken. My husband had the Chicken Marsala, which he thought was just ok - we make a better sauce at home. All entrees were served in the same manner on 2 separate dishes, so it made for a very crowded table. The salad that was served with the entrees was pretty good - mixed greens, cucumber, tomato, carrot. All entrees were between $15 - $20. I would probably go elsewhere for better quality pasta sauces for the same price range.
I've been disappointed with Francos. They need to get back to their roots and design some interesting dishes. Over the years, they were the place to be. Then their menu became more varied but not in a good way. The Northern Italian chicken is the only thing I'd consider to order there. The salad bar used to be better. The pizza has really gone down hill too.
we were given a section of the restaurant for our personal use.we were allowed to decorate our area and used the front of the restaurant as a recieving line for my father to greet his guests.the service and food was top of the line.we had no complaints and we were a group of mixed ages.our party size was large.we will be back.
After eating a good portion of the menu i realized that i didnt have the stomache to finish the rest because of the slow service or maybe the rat i seen running out the back totally ruined the experience.
Maybe my expectations were too high, but Franco's isn't the restaurant to go to if you're looking for good Italian food. I ordered pasta primavera, which the menu described as "Fresh Garden Vegetables in a White Sauce." The vegetables were borderline mush - very overcooked - and, if they were fresh, I was unable to tell because the flavor had been boiled out. The white sauce was interesting. There is supposed to be Parmesan in the dish. If there was any cheese, there was either very little of it or it was a very low quality because I didn't taste any. The sauce seemed to consist of cream and butter and no seasoning. Overall, very little flavour. At least the pasta wasn't overcooked.
The food has always been good here, and the atmosphere is nice. Our server Mitch was polite, but somewhat distant/haughty. We'd definitely go back. :-)
We ate off of the dinner buffet which is excellent, as it has been for years. The servers treat you like family, and the atmosphere is clean, romantic, and stunning. An altogether excellent place to dine!
first of all home made mozz stix, the best i have ever hade by far, huge plate of spag cabonara which was fantastic, and the best veal parm in the city(girl friend had the pasta)great servers and you cannot come close to the price
I don't care even if their ingredients and foods are pre-made or if they are from scratch. no matter how they prepare it, its good at the end, and portions are huge, i can never finish my meal. spaghetti and meatballs all the wayyyyyy.......
Wonderful food and great service. I love this place. It is away from downtown and peaceful location. Lots of parking space and value for money food and service.
Great food, fast service and very friendly staff. I've been to many Italian eateries like these and this one always delivers. The portions are rediculously big and I can never finish a meal when i visit....Their delivery service is also fast and affordable .
I had my pizza delivered to me, so I wasn't able to experience their waiting service. Their pizza is, in my opinion, one of the better ones, if not the best in the Windsor area. The sauce is perfectly zesty, the dough is hot and fluffy and the cheese is the perfect blend of gooey and firm. For a divine pizza experience, I would recommend Franco's without any hesitation!
Franco's is not a good restaurant to eat at if you are in a hurry. The service is not great. The water does not have ice and the drinking glasses, silverwear, plates and bowls are dirty. I found a hair in my food, it was not pleasent. I went into Franco's expecting to get fast service and well prepared food, I got the total opposite. Take out, dont eat in, unless you dont mind dirty dishes!
I did not go in there looking for a fashion show however the way that I was dressed raised some eyebrows. The problem with this was the people around me all had suits on and because I went in with jeans and a dressy shirt I was looked at differently. My waitress (Sue) I think seemed standoffish and the food was underprepared. Might go back if this is the only place standing in Windsor. =(
