Brigitte Depatie earned her certification as a baker and pastry chef and opened a tearoom in Beloeil, Quebec, which she ran with her parents for 10 years. In 1989, she married and settled down in the Plateau Mont Royal near a newly opened organic bakery called La Fournée Bio. She joined the team and for the next three years, she learned the ins and outs of organic baking.
A concern for her own health led her to begin following a purely organic diet. Soon, Brigitte was travelling to cities such as Boston to study macrobiotics, which encourages eating local foods and cooking without meat, eggs or dairy products. In 1994, she launched Les Délices Bio to offer those with dietary restrictions the perfect place to eat well without the risks.
Now with 175 choices on the menu, it's one of the few places in Montreal where one can find so many delicious recipes made without herbicides, pesticides, chemicals or additives. “I was on a mission to show people how to eat well with food that tastes good, is good for you and is reasonably priced," explains Brigitte.
