Peaches and cream

  • A scoop of this sweet and fruity bread pudding would be the perfect indulgence after a cool autumn hayride or an afternoon of raking leaves.
  • Cube a loaf of day-old French bread, and combine it with a can of chopped peaches, 120 millilitres of pecans and 60 millilitres of butter in a slow cooker that has been misted with nonstick spray.
  • In another bowl, beat together eight eggs and 350 millilitres each of milk, heavy whipping cream and sugar, 10 millilitres of vanilla extract, and seven millilitres each of nutmeg and cinnamon.
  • Pour this mixture into the slow cooker over the bread and peaches, and allow it to cook on high for two hours.

There are lots of ways to customize this peachy dessert to match anyone's tastes. Throw in a handful of raisins or other dried fruit, or add a mixture of sweet and savoury nuts for different tastes and textures.

Serve it topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or yogurt, or make a glaze on the stove top by heating a can of condensed milk mixed with a few millilitres of peach schnapps.

For chocolate lovers

  • Those with a sweet tooth will love this rich bread pudding recipe. Cube a loaf of day-old Italian bread and put it in the slow cooker.
  • In one bowl, whisk five eggs, 475 millilitres of sugar, 240 millilitres of milk, 10 millilitres of vanilla extract and five millilitres of hazelnut extract together.
  • In another bowl, melt 240 millilitres of chocolate chips, and add in seven millilitres of unsweetened cocoa powder and 240 millilitres of hazelnut cream.
  • Pour both bowls into the slow cooker, gently mix all of the ingredients together, and cook the pudding on high for two hours.

This dessert can be served a few different ways. It's delicious served hot and gooey straight from the slow cooker, or, after it's done cooking, pop it in the freezer for a few hours for a scrumptious frozen dessert.

These are just a few ideas for delicious bread pudding variations. Get creative and see what kind of sweet, fruity or savoury combinations you can make.
