Morpheus Theatre Society

Sean Anderson’s love of theatre started when he was a high school student in Calgary. He attributes this theatrical love affair in part to a particularly inspiring drama teacher who mobilized the entire student body to mount a major production each year. Sean loved theatre so much, in fact, that he studied theatre management at the University of Calgary. While there, his former drama teacher introduced him to a couple of other students who wanted to start their own recreational theatre company. And the rest, as they say, is history. By June 1995, the trio was presenting shows at Calgary’s legendary home of community theatre – the Pumphouse.

Sean and his two theatre co-directors named their company Morpheus, a reference to the Greek god of dreams. “Morpheus Theatre focuses on fulfilling dreams. Whether it be the dreams of young thespians looking to start a career on stage or behind the scenes, or the audience wishing to step into a dream world for a few hours to be entertained, Morpheus tries to make these dreams come true,” says Sean.
