Be warned. Walk into Notti Biscotti and chances are you'll be verbally abused. "We're mean to everyone," says Shelley Quesnel, founder and genius behind the chocolate-based biscotti recipes. "But you know, our customers love it. When you come in, you have a giggle. We're all about fun here."
Shelley picked the name Notti to rhyme with biscotti, but she searched for just the right combination. "It had to be like us: just slightly naughty, but not over the edge. It had to go with biscotti, but had to have just a slight sexual edge to it. Even our logo has the devil's horns and a tail."
With a backstory like that, it’s no surprise that every biscotti in the shop has a name, like Wicked Willie, Dusty Rusty, Yummi Mummi and Smartie Martie, to name a few. While all of this may sound a bit frivolous, Shelley notes that in the kitchen, nothing goes to waste. "All the end pieces get turned into Nookie – a double chocolate fudge cookie. The crumbs go into a lemon berry cheesecake."
