Went here with friends. They been here before My wife and I had not. Our server ask if we been before and then helped us on some questions we had about the menu. Dave was very helpful with our decisions. He did not rush us and was very patient. Our english is not great but he was able to understand and help us with deciding. The wrap and roll platter was a great taste of different items and coconut shrimp was very good. We order many different dishes to try and share. Dave mentioned they were big portions and he was right. We had lots of leftovers for next day. The decor was very nice and relaxing. not very busy though. Look forward to coming back and enjoying another nice evening wih great food and service.
This was the best place to take a few friends. Lunch menu was great and a super price cheaper then your local burger joint. Service, was very good considering it was a little bit busy. Dave, you did a great job! We will add this to our regular go to lunch/dinner spot!
This was our first visit to Mein Street and we were impressed! The decor is beautiful! The dining room was quite full when we arrived. We each ordered a different appetizer so we could share. The service was friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Our entrees were quite large and served hot and fresh. The only complaint is that my son's noodles in his beef chow mein were too salty for his taste. My meal, the basil beef stir fry was good but too spicy for my taste (I don't like a lot of spice). My husband had the curry chicken and said it was one of the best meals he's had in a long time. The spring rolls are amazing! The beef and chicken satay was great! I loved the decor in the bathroom - beautifully decorated glass bowls for the sinks. We will definitely be back!
The appetizer assortment at Mein Street is excellent. My guest and I sampled several offerings and enjoyed them all. We were impressed with the quantity of food brought to the table as well. Our main dishes arrived in good time and were hot and tasty. I found the Singapore Noodle a bit dry and not generous with ingredients, but I still finished it and was quite satisfied overall. (I'll order something else next time).
Three of us visited Mein Street on Thursday, 29 December, 2011 for lunch. The restaurant looked clean and tidy. We sat in a booth in the main dining room. The place was full, save one table for two. I was pleased to see that the draught beer was an Ontario Microbrewery - Hop City. Strange though, the menu said domestic drafts (sic) but included Samuel Adams which is a U.S. beer. The beer was listed as being 18 ounces which is smaller than a pint and upon being delivered, the glasses were at least two ounces short again because of excessive foam at the top. The price of these glasses of beer was $7.95. That is excessive. A pint of high quality ale like Black Oak Pale Ale runs about $2.50 cost for a pub or restaurant. Mein Street does not sell by the pint and charges $8. Quite a mark up. A glass of wine is also far too expensive. It would be in the interests of this restaurant to sell wine by the 1/2 litre also. The food? BBQ lemon grass chicken with a spring roll contained no lemon grass. The meal was served in a large bowl with lots of rice in the bottom and some chicken and pickled water chestnut on top as well as a deep fried spring roll. Bland. Not good. $12.95. Stir fried chicken black bean with green and red pepper and onion. A large bowl filled with rice vermicelli and topped with some chicken with black bean sauce on top. Very little flavour was experienced. $11.95. Red Curry with eggplant and bamboo shoots with rice vermicelli. Again rice vermicelli in the bottom of a bowl with some chicken and egg plant on top. This did have some flavour. $11.95. The waitress was pleasant and the floor manager was also quite amiable. It was the first visit to this restaurant and my brother was quite enthusiastic having visited it a few days ago to check it out before inviting us to accompany him. We were not pleased.
