We had a reservation, as we were celebrating a special occasion. Perhaps we were early, I don't know, but we were seated in a deserted part of the restaurant, so the waiter didn't come by very often. Nonetheless, the food was good. Not spectacular, but not bad, either. Very expensive, but we had expected that. Not the most memorable meal, and considering the cost, definitely not worth a 2nd visit.
A very nice restaurant but some small improvements could push it to the top of my list. The Appetizers were excellent - especially the seafood plate. We were recommended a nice sweet wine to pair with the Fois Gras - an excellent combination. My wife raved about the duck - which is served as a breast and leg combination. Her only complaint with the dish was there was a bit of work involved with the skin on leg - however she maintained the breast was absolutely cooked to perfection. My caribou was very good as well. The deserts my wife and I were divided on - I found the crepe quite nice while my wife was a little less impressed. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice and the service struck just the right balance. My main though for improvement on this restaurant and this is more a suggestion than a complaint - the wine list is rather "traditional." What I mean here is that if you wanted a mid-to-high end wine you were effectively forced to one of California, France or Italy. Lower to mid priced wines were available from Australia and Canada. The fact is the world has so much more to offer and I would like to see a more eclectic mix at each price range. Australia certainly has some very good (and good value) vintages at higher price ranges. Other locales could also be represented - Spain, Portugal, Chile, Argentina - and these areas can and do produce wines that justify a $100-$150 price tag - and in many instances deliver better value than out of California or France. I just find that shoehorning vintages in different price ranges in a limited manner leaves me feeling a bit restricted.
We waited almost an hour between appetizer and entree. My filet, ordered medium, was red-raw. Blood oozing...They ran out of the Pasta dish (Ravioli) and this at 6 p.m and the Coconut Cream Pie also. Addt'l bread was offered, but never arrived.Dover Sole was 'crispy' as a result of being overcooked. The prices are absurd! This is Suburbia, reality check needed!! $72 for 3 'Christmas Cocktails'??? Where am I? Paris? Merely adequate experience for our Anniversary dinner.
A warm welcome was the only quality. We waited one and a half hour to get our dinner. The waiter was busy serving the regulars and cleaning the tables beside us - no excuses, no mise-en-bouche and no bread. We ordered a steak charded on the outside....the steak was burnt and tasted like gas... The pasta was overcooked and tasteless. Needless to say we will not go back nor do we recommend. Totally overpriced and not worth it.
It took a while for the waiter to get our drink order, the bread was stale, the silverware was spotty, and our wine glasses were scratched, and mine even had a chip in it!The fois gras was soggy and over cooked,as well as the shrimp. It took over 1/2 an hour for our main courses and when they finally arrived my tenderloin was overcooked and the Halibut was dry and chewey. Our veggies were mushy accept for the carrots which were way under cooked and the sauce for the Halibut had split and was dried onto the plate.Desserts were good but we did not get the grand finally we were looking for.The wait staff seemed disorganized and unhappy. Our entire evening was spoiled by the pompus Maitre d and the uncaring waiter.
