The food had no heat at all. Had we ate in the restaurant this would have easily been corrected but due to COVID-19 we ordered thru SkipTheDishes (who were awesome). We called the restaurant and after I told him the food was quite flavourful but has zero heat to it I was basically told too bad for us, we should have indicated spicy. There was no "spicy" option when we ordered and our general expectation ordering these specific dishes is that they have some level of heat so we didn't think
How many times did i drive past this nondescript place, and never realize the amazing food and ambience inside ! Shrimp pakoras and seekh kebab are to die for.We also had the Butter Chicken and Lamb Madras with Garlic Nan Both were excellent. Service was superb. Will be back !
By far the best in Ottawa ! Take this from a true Indian food critic.,,Their Naan breads are a little on the expensive which you will realize once you order 10 for them but worth it as it is made in a real "tandoor". The rest of the menu is very standard items but flavorful.
Just had the lunch buffet. Pretty good food for $11 each. Overall tasty food, not too oily, excellent nan, fresh and very clean. I will go back. I noticed the server checking the cleanliness of the tongs that were dropped into some sauce. They were replaced with clean ones. Impressive for a buffet.
Well, I doubted that the meat was halal and when I asked the server, she seemed to be lost. The table cloth was unchanged as well. The food was tasty, but they should make sure if the meat they use halal or not and let people know instead of hiding.
I've been to this restaurant many times, dine-in and take-out. Food is always delicious and servings are quite large (larger on take out than dine-in). Onion Bhajis are enormous and fantastic. Service is great as well, friendly and attentive.
I regret a lot that I did not earlier visited! Now I live in Aylmer, QC and have to drive 25 km and last year I lived around the corner. We have enjoyed lots of different dishes, enjoyed them all and will return as regular patrons! Its still a hidden gem in Ottawa, hope for the owner that will change. We give their business card to all our friends. Have a wonderful genuine India dinner there! Doris Aubin
I have dined at Host India several times, including the excellent luncheon buffet. It has been consistently good every time. For the price, this restaurant is great value.
Of all the Indian restaurants that I've tried in Ottawa, Host India surpasses them all. Very clean, beautiful atmosphere & best of all - amazing food. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a wonderful Indian meal!
The food was excellent, but the service was lacking a bit.
Good food, especially seekh kebobs and tandoorie chicken. Lamb curry was excellent. However, the service sucks. These guys don't honour their own coupon from entertainment book. Coupon issue was escalated to manager, who gave us discount for least priced item in our bill, not on a regular dish as is mentioned on coupon. The service explains why there were only 5 people including us in a 60+ seats restaurant on a weekday evening. If you go, carefully check your bill.
I ordered take-out. Wanted chicken curry and lamb curry with hot sauce on the side. When we got home we found they had given us chicken curry and butter chicken, no hot sauce on the side. Both were good especially the chicken curry. Very saucey so more naan bread would have been good. Butter chicken had very little chicken and chicken curry had too much chicken. Go figure.

The extensive menu at Host India caters to every taste, whether you’re in the mood for chicken, beef, lamb, seafood or vegetarian, spicy or mild. Beloved Indian dishes like samosas, pakoras, tandoori chicken, saag paneer and simple curry are prepared with care and beautifully presented. Complete your meal with the doughy goodness of naan bread, served plain, with garlic, or stuffed with minced beef, onion, fresh herbs and spices.
