“My shows are usually cast on Facebook,” says Red Sandcastle Theatre artistic director, Rosemary Doyle. “If somebody wants to be in one of my shows, they should have coffee with me.” Leslieville’s little Red Sandcastle Theatre is like that – one-of-a-kind, up close and personal. Its stage features about 42 sold-out shows a year, and more.

Since 2011, Rosemary has transformed the former Queen Street East pottery studio  into a professional playground for artists, writers, actors, directors and producers to work and be inspired. “You always want to be hooked up with people who are equally excited,” says Rosemary, explaining her open-door concept.

Rosemary, who played Annie in the 1984 production of Annie at the Grand Theatre in Kingston, has been acting for 35 years. She’s probably most well-known for her role as Jane in My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding, a Mirvish hit at the 2009 Toronto Fringe Festival. In addition to acting both onstage and on screen, Rosemary also writes, directs and produces plays.
