In 2011, four ambitious friends got together to buy an old tavern in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie. Alexander Lindsay, Charles Deschamps, Edwin Knight-Vallée and Pierre Gadouas, who all hail from Montreal and the South Shore and have been friends for 24 years, became the proud owners of Le Jockey. They completely renovated the tavern that had been operating since 1967, and in 2011, opened the place with an entirely new look, while keeping the original name. "The reference to beer and cocktails were added as we now specialize in cocktails, and beers from microbreweries. We then welcomed a new partner, Benjamin Desautels to our team," says Alexander.
Before embarking on this adventure, each of the four friends had their own background in bars, restaurants and hotels. As Alexander tells it, in 2006, he started a bartending company that's now flourishing. "It was this project that led us to focus on mixology, the preparation of cocktails," he recalls.
Young and refreshing, Jockey is a bar cut from the cloth of Rosemont Petite-Patrie: a warm and festive atmosphere can be found there. Those who want to test their knowledge go there every Wednesdays at 7:00 pm for the quiz night.
