“I love walking into a store that has a tangible, clear vision. When a boutique seems like it’s just filling its shelves, I get turned off. I think the function of retail is to bring consumers something different and interesting,” says Driss Bennani.
The owner of the Mont-Royal Avenue shop, Boutique Bubbles, practices what he preaches — Driss carefully handpicks every item for sale. “I like to offer beautiful clothing,” he says. “What’s the point of owning a retail store if not to make people dream a little? Also, with the increased competition from large chains, you have to take chances on items that will really speak to your customers.”
Since its 2004 inception, Boutique Bubbles has become one of the strip’s best-known addresses: “I opened my store when I was 24, and I’ve been growing with my clientele ever since,” Driss explains. “A lot of my first customers still shop here; I have a real bond with them, and I’ve seen their families welcome new members as they have mine. It’s truly a neighbourhood boutique.”
With a wide selection of clothing styles and accessories for men and women, and a variety of cruelty-free products, as well, this is a fabulous place to update your fall wardrobe and prep for the coming cool weather. And the affordable prices make the shopping experience that much better.
