Whether it’s adjusting the grind on a humid day or matching the stamp colour on their cups, there is no detail small enough to slip past the quietly obsessive Café Ferlucci cousins.
“This is our space. And the beautiful thing is we get to share it with people,” explains Gianni Pezzullo, a self-confessed coffee nut. His attention to detail is rivalled only by co-owner Megan Verdone’s unflinching eye for design. Having always envisioned her dream café as one that would blend in seamlessly with any stunning Wes Anderson movie, Megan’s been surprised at how receptive the neighbourhood regulars have been. “So you get what you put out, I guess,” she says.
Perfectly at peace in burgeoning Villeray, Café Ferlucci is a cozy old-school Italian bar and boutique with a contemporary, artistic flair, serving up an undeniably homey vibe that’s both easy on the eyes and difficult to leave. “But that’s the whole idea of a café, right?” says Gianni. “That there’s no judgment. People can come in, hang out and discuss whatever they want – love, politics, anything.”
