Entrepreneur Georges Najjar is always looking for the next big challenge. He travels the globe keeping an eye on what is going on elsewhere and whether it would work in Montreal. That’s what led him to open Le Gourmet Burger in 2009. “The trend of a fancy version of a burger had yet to start in Montreal,” recalls Georges. “I saw it when I travelled. People were fed up of the usual burger. They were willing to pay two dollars more for a better quality burger when they knew where the food was coming from and when the products used were fresh. We knew there was a niche for that.”
Not long after, rave reviews and accolades started pouring in. It wasn’t the first time Georges had hit success on Bishop Street. He also owned a café and nightclub in the neighbourhood, so he knew the area well. “Challenge is what drives me,” he says. “There’s nothing I can’t surpass. There are obstacles, but you go over them.”
