David Barros, co-owner and manager at Portus Calle, a Portuguese fine dining restaurant on Saint-Laurent, has an appreciation for details – table setting, prompt service, generous portions and attentive communication. While partner and Chef Helena Loureiro runs the kitchen, he and Denis Seara run the floor. “We focus on delivering something absolutely professional. I think that comes across in everything we do, and it appeals to our regulars. We have people come back three or four nights each week and celebrate their birthdays here because they know what they’re getting. Many of them are experienced professionals, and expect a certain quality to everything they’re served.”
That quality is assured not only by the friendly and cordial staff, but also by the openness and quality of the ingredients. ‘We leave our seafood rack open, and Chef Helena doesn’t hesitate to send something right back out the door if it doesn’t meet her standards.” The discriminating attitude of Chef Helena is not for want of callousness, but in sympathy with her customers. “We rather be caught jumping between suppliers and ingredients than have one that won’t satisfy our customers fully.”

Yesterday evening, my boyfriend and myself had gone out for a nice Friday dinner date. With that said, we were craving to have a nice Portuguese meal, therefore, we decided to go to Portus 360. Our evening started with a very beautiful view, however, the view was not enough of an experience due to the horrible service and food we received. Our waiter seemed as if he was not trained properly for this kind of restaurant. He was very lost, took forever to take our order and never came to refill ou
The food, the service and the wine were outstanding. Original tapas, grilled fish and an excellent selection of privately imported Portuguese wines. Deserts were also impressive. Take the tasting menu, it's worth it. Bonus: valet parking. Book ahead to be safe.

Formerly known as Portus Calle, Portus 360 was launched in April 2016 when renowned chef Helena Loureiro moved the restaurant into its new 29th floor revolving home. The 360-degree views of Montreal are truly spectacular. Personally, I find it festive and romantic; I like to go there to spend time with the people I love. I’m also loopy for the squid stuffed with chorizo and the octopus, which is simply sublime!

Be tempted by the tapas (cod, sardines, salmon, octopus), bouillabaisse, salt cod, grilled sardines and a fine selection of meat (sirloin, pork tenderloin, pig flank, etc.). Also on offer are delicacies imported from Portugal.

A bar provides seating for a dozen people for a more casual dining experience, and during summer, a large outdoor patio welcomes customers. Specialties include Arroz de marisco, Parilhada, and various tapas. Portuguese bottles make up 95% of the private imports on the wine list. Group menus available.
