In April 2016, Conde Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards for the Best Pizza in the World: The Top 14 Cities for Pizza placed Edmonton at number eight on the list. With a diverse number of fantastic pizzas to choose from, including hand-tossed, wood-fired pies with white or red sauce and fun toppings ranging from pineapple to pine nuts, you're sure to find one you adore. Buon appetito!
This spot boasts “New York style pizza” right here in Edmonton. Choose from their specials or create your own - either way, it is amazing pizza. That’s why it’s been a staple of the city for more than 25 years. Specialty toppings include prosciutto, capicola, bocconcini, arugula and mozzarella cheese. Their most popular pie is Sal's Deluxe, with prosciutto, capicola, marinated tomato sauce and bocconcini cheese.
Italian cafe-style restaurant is the best way to describe this place. Casual and warm, the pizza is soft and chewy - the way it was meant to be enjoyed. And, with a selection of fine Italian wines and boutique beers, you’ll forget you’re in Edmonton. Try their feature pizza, with buffalo mozzarella, roasted garlic, Swiss chard, onion, taleggio cheese, Italian sausage and ricotta.
Found in the heart of the Garneau neighbourhood, and known for their extraordinary coffee, Leva is much more than that. The food is something special. And, the thin-crust pizza is hand-tossed (never the same shape twice!), and prepared with the freshest and most incredible ingredients. They have everything from margherita to spicy chicken pizza, and they offer gluten-free crusts, as well.
It’s not a particularly fancy place, and the decor is rather simplistic, but that’s kind of the charm of Ragazzi’s. The pizza is thin and hand-tossed just like in the old country. They also offer whole wheat crust or a half-and-half option, if you can't decide between Rustica (salami, bacon, potato, onion) and Primavera (pesto, artichokes, tomato, onion, olives and spinach).
This is a Century Hospitality concept restaurant, but they’ve done it well. Parlour’s “Italian pizzaiolos” (pizza makers named for the Italian professionals who mastered the art of making pizzas) prepare the pies from start to finish and you can tell. Whether you’re having a Parlour signature pizza as an app to share with your friends, or whether you want it all to yourself, be sure to savour every bite!
You wouldn’t expect a run-of-the-mill sports bar to have a wood oven to make proper pizzas, but hey, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill sports bar after all. The wood-oven pizza is what dreams are made of, truly. The flavours are fairly traditional, such as Hawaiian, Meat Lovers, pepperoni, Greek and hamburger.
They are known as “the one, the original since 1976,” so you know it’s good. The place is spacious and comfortable, and they serve a variety of Italian and Canadian dishes. Their deep dish pizza is quite amazing. It has so much cheese and there are so many varieties to choose from, including Greek, donair and Santa Fe.
