Everything at this Cambie Street bakery is gluten free. Their selection of sweets is impressive, but Lemonade also has a winning roster of savoury breads and buns. The staff understand allergies and will go to great lengths to find a treat that works for you. Whatever you do, don’t leave without a lemon tart.

East Village Bakery

This artisanal boutique bakery is located in Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood. Best known for their light and fluffy cakes, all of East Village Bakery's creations, including their cookies, pies and danishes can be made without gluten. We love the pistachio cookies!

Panne Rizo

Order a cup of tea and have a seat in this Kitsilano bakery and café. Panne Rizo has a full range of pastries, along with bread, sandwiches, pizza and crepes – and everything is 100 per cent gluten free. Top off your dessert with a scoop of homemade non-dairy ice cream. And be sure to try their delicious shortbread.

Bakery Sate

Bakery Sate is not exclusively gluten free, but it does feature daily creative specials sans gluten. This modern French-style bakery has a full espresso and tea menu, as well as indoor and outdoor seating. So make yourself comfortable and order up a slice of their matcha black sesame cake.

This long-standing institution in Granville Island Market is best known for its decadent desserts, artisan breads and macarons. But their gluten-free Bliss Balls are probably Vancouver’s best-kept secret. So be sure to pop a couple for the perfect fuel-up before an afternoon of shopping.

Cloud 9 Specialty Bakery

You’ll find an abundance of bars, cakes and pies in this New Westminster shop. And if you can’t find what you’re craving, they’ll bake it to order. The Cloud 9 bakers claim the secret to light and fluffy baked goods is their gluten-free baking mix – they won’t tell us what it is though – and it’s no surprise why. Don’t walk away without testing out one of their sinfully good cinnamon buns.

On a cold, snowy Edmonton night, nothing says lovin’ like a cup of hot chocolate. It’s no surprise this drink was originally dubbed the “elixir of the gods.” Regardless of the variety you select, or whether you opt for the simplest hot chocolate on the menu, all I can say is ... don’t forget the marshmallows.
