From mile-high burgers to “freakshakes,” Toronto is filled with outrageous cuisine that has everyone talking and posting! These over-the-top meals are either massive in size or a far cry from the mainstream dinners you’re used to. Here is some of the most outrageous food in the city! For a decadent meat experience, you’re going to have to head out to one of the Holy Chuck burger joints. You’ll find the Go Chuck Yourself on the main menu, which consists of a whopping six patties, six types of cheese, triple bacon and caramelized onions all stacked between three grilled cheese sandwiches. For even more opulence try the foie gras pancakes, which need to be ordered 24 hours in advance.
Hunter’s Landing takes a hangover drink to the next level with its crazy Caesar. The Landing Cure is topped with a lobster tail, jalapeno Havarti, a strip of bacon, fresh cut vegetables, pickles and a pizza slice. Once you eat your way through the toppings you’ll find the vodka based Caesar is delicious and refreshing. It’s found on the brunch menu.
The Burger’s Priest can be given credit for the gourmet burger Renaissance in Toronto and its craziest burger can be found on the secret menu. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse sees two of “the option” veggie burgers on top of two cheeseburgers with tomato and lettuce. As for the bun – it’s the famous grilled cheese sandwich.
Maha’s is known for its brunch menu and this outrageous sandwich: Mind Blowing Chicken. The sandwich is a toasted egg bun that is filled with tender pieces of marinated chicken, parsley, onions, tomatoes and garlic sauce. The chicken is completely overflowing, so you are going to need to eat it with a fork.
For some of the craziest ice cream in Toronto, Dutch Dreams is the place. The Super Royal Dutch Baked Alaska has been a favourite since the shop opened in the ‘80s. The ice cream dish starts with your choice of ice cream, covered with a layer of cake and sprinkled with Gran Marnier. To complete the outrageous ice cream treat, its topped off with toasted meringue and a lit sparkler.
Pretty much everything on Junked Food Co. is outrageous, but their Mac & Cheese Burrito is the standout. Made with mac and cheese, pico de gallo, cheddar, black olives, sour cream, chili sauce and Flaming Hot Cheetos, this burrito is the perfect late night snack!
The Beast is known for its use of every animal part, so it should be no surprise that Crispy Pig Ears are on the menu, specifically on the snack menu. Deep fried and delicious, it’s a delicacy that has become very popular at the King West restaurant. If you can get past the description, it is a must-try outrageous snack!
Petit Potato opened a few years ago and has been all over Instagram due to its Gold Toast Series. Stacked 10 inches high, the Golden Toast, soaked in sweet custard and butter, comes smothered in ice cream and either fruit, cookies or whipped cream. You can try multiple flavours like Oreo, Red Bean Matcha and Strawberry Special.
This spot opened earlier this year and is home to the infamous Freakshakes. The milkshake is made with 20 oz. of milk and ice cream, and topped with everything from chocolate chip cookies to brownies and sometimes both! We recommend sharing these massive shakes!
