Best for dietary restrictions

One of Calgary’s best kept secrets for wholesome home-cooked meals is Meez Cuisine and Catering. Meez is owned and operated by chef Judy Wood, who specializes in gourmet ready-made meals free from preservatives and additives. She also has a ton of gluten-free and vegetarian options. Finish things off with a toffee sauce-laden gingerbread cake.

CRMR Kitchen and Urban Butcher are celebrating the holidays this year with a takeaway $95 Christmas dinner for four. The feast includes local free-run turkey, roasted seasonal vegetables, pistachio and dried cranberry stuffing, mashed potatoes and house-made cranberry sauce and gravy. All you have to do is reheat it and serve – no stress and no mess. Just make sure you place your order before Dec. 18 at 4 p.m. And if you’re still trying to find last-minute gifts, Urban Butcher also has CRMR Kitchen gift sets available, featuring locally-made artisanal condiments.

If you’ve got too much pride to get a fully-prepared meal or want to get take a less intimidating DIY approach, Sobeys offers a turkey kit that comes with a fresh and fully-cooked turkey, cooked garlic mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and gravy. Just heat it up and it’ll be ready to serve in less than two hours. Then add in your own stuffing, veggies and accompaniments and you’re all set for dinner.
