Over 35 years of very successful practice in the English as a Second Language field. My job positions included teacher, curriculum designer, program coordinator, department-head, administrator, business owner & consultant. From 1995 to 2005, I worked for private colleges as an ESL Instructor, Program Coordinator & Department Head in Vancouver. In 2005 I founded and operated E.L.I.T. English Language Improvement Training in North Burnaby, until December of 2015. We helped hundreds of students - at the elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels - accomplish their academic dreams. Our senior students were admitted into prestigious universities in Canada and the USA, among others, UBC, SFU, UT, Mc Gill, UCLA, Stanford. In 2014, ELITbyHaydee was short-listed as one of the 5 finalists for the Business of Excellence Awards, in the small business category, granted by the Burnaby Board of Trade and the City of Burnaby,

Haydee has always believed in following her dreams. She discovered her passion for teaching while working at a private college for international students and that led her to create Elit Writing Program in 2005.

“Nothing compares to the feeling of seeing a student work hard and graduate,” says Haydee. “Watching them progress through the program is inspiring.”

With very little capital, Haydee’s investment in herself and her business was a true leap of faith. “I worked over 12 hours a day for the first few years. I bought second-hand furniture and really put everything I had into this because it was my dream. Eventually, word spread. I recruited all the students I was tutoring outside of the program, and we were able to build something out of nothing.”

    This is the place to go if you would like to improve your English! As a former immigrant and now a Canadian citizen, Haydee has taught me from the basic simple structures and vocabulary of English to many complicated rules through excellence in teaching and competency in the English language. If it was not for Haydee, I do not think I would have such proficiency in this language that allows me to successfully apply and attend UBC today.

    From personal experience, this is an effective and great tutoring centre. It helped me over the years improving my writing, reading, and public speaking skills. I highly recommend this to gr 4-12. They have excellent teachers who provide helpful lessons and advice.
