Chef and owner of Alex Oh Sushi & Rolls (opened in October, 2014). Alex Oh began his career 16 years ago in the town of Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. While studying in Japan, he started working in a Japanese restaurant only to earn enough money for a living. But he became fascinated by his Chef's passion and dedication to his food. Alex Oh decided to walk the path of becoming a Japanese chef.
the Spring of 2013, Alex ?wanted to experience the beauty of East Coast Canada for the first time of his life. His last stop in Halifax, Nova Scotia, overwhelmed him with a sense of warmth and kindness of its people. ?At that very moment, he knew this is the city he wanted to open his very own restaurant.? Alex Oh studied the art of making sushi in Japan, and has worked in Korea, Thailand and at Yuzu No Hana in Toronto (where he served Beyoncé!) Alex decided after visiting the east coast in 2013 that Halifax was where he was going to open his own restaurant. The dining room is small, but bright and clean. Alex keeps a close eye on all the plates going out, with quality and aesthetics being top priorities. Sauces are house-made. Hard-to-find fish make appearances. Plates are beautiful works of art.
