By Kanata standards, this is a descent restaurant and previous visits were good. This time however, the service from the hostess to the waitress was sub par. We expect to see a smile on the face of the staff when they serve us but clearly these were not happy campers. The Pasta Pasquale was good though. Will take my business elsewhere.
I'd heard about the gluten-free pizza and pasta at Fratelli's and their Barrhaven location in the former Tuscan Villa appealed so a friend and I went for lunch: big disappointment. I had the special pasta of the day which was Italian sausage, tomato and olives in a pesto cream sauce. The only GF pasta available is penne (c'mon, guys) and it's corn which isn't that great for you. Anyway, the sausage was one very dry link, there were no tomatoes and four of the teeniest olives I have ever seen, over clumped penne. $17 for what I figure was maybe $2 worth of food.
Nice touches on their meals. Portions are not over sized, which is good if you don't want to overeat! I've had veal parmigiane (sp?) and the salmon with some unique sauce. The vegetables have been spectacular both times and like I said before, the presentation is pleasing. The house wine (by the glass) is decently priced and quite good. It is a bit pricey though. I would only go back for a very special occasion with my husband. It is a very romantic atmosphere. I am looking forward to going again.
Food was decent to good - not spectacular. Service was average. Table location was very cramped and right beside bathroom, everyone that walked by seemed to knock our table. I would say it was pricey considering the "overall" experience.
Absolutely love this place. Service is always great, food is excellent. They're constantly changing the menu which I find a great idea. If there's a dish you've eaten before and it's not on the new menu, they'll make it for you. They have an excellent wine list. I would recommend this to anybody. If you know Italian food, then you'll appreciate this place. I guarantee their sauce is not Ragu like some of the restaurants who claim to be authentic Italian restaurants. I guarantee the authenticity of their cuisine.

This family-owned restaurant started out with two fratelli (brothers) and their parents running the kitchen and dining room at the original Glebe location in 1996. The family restaurant ambiance persists with family photos covering the beautiful brick walls. You’ll love the tasty wood-burning oven pizzas like the Roberto with mixed wild mushrooms, mozzarella, parmesan, porcini mushroom, pancetta and black truffle aioli.
