Me and my mother try to dine at Joey's Only Seafood but were extremely dissapointed with the lack of service we recieved. We were seated, we looked at the menu, we were not offered water, and a family came in after us, they had their table set up and water glasses and drinks and they got their food before us! We were sitting there at an empty table and empty stomachs. I lost my appitite and we walked out. We highly recommed never going to this establishment EVER, we even tell people not to go there because of the awful service. I have never been more insulted being in a restaurant in my entire life. I suspect we were treated the way we were because of apparent visible minority. Avoid at all costs.
My husband, I and our 2 kids arrived and were seated at a table for four. We were wearing long coats, so I took a chair from the table next to us, and put my purse and our coats on it. I didn’t see it as a problem, as the restaurant was almost empty. We had barely sat down when our waitress appeared, THREW MY PURSE ON THE FLOOR, grabbed our coats, pushed the chair away and walked away with our coats and hung them up by the door. The floor in the restaurant is tile, and with the snowy weather, you can imagine what condition the floor was in. My camera and cell phone were in my purse, either of which could easily have been broken. Plus, my husband’s wallet and cell phone were in his coat, and he was less than impressed when she walked away with it. Part way through dinner, I realized I had an option of 2 side dishes. Shouldn’t she have mentioned this to me, instead of just assuming I wanted fries and coleslaw? After looking at the menu, I would have preferred something else. My husband and I had been looking forward to going out for dinner for a while, but were disappointed from the beginning. We are definitely not going back!
Service was good and friendly, food was hot and tasty. The fish was flaky and we would definitely eat here again. We have eaten at Red Lobster and this was just as good.
The food is mostly fried. The garlic shrimp have very little taste and are covered in re-cooked dried minced garlic. Each time I come here for the all-you-can-eat shrimp the staff seems to make it difficult for us to order more. When they bring a plate by we have to demand they start the order for the next one otherwise we'll be waiting for refills in 10-minute intervals. The gravy for the mashed potatoes was not tasty at all but the fish itself was adequate.
On a Good Friday visit, we were seated quickly and greeted almost immediately after. Service was extremely quick and the food was just great! Overall a wonderful place to relax and enjoy good food.
We have never had bad service, the all you can eat shrimp is the best deal in town and the flavour is always fantastic. I am not ashamed to say we make our dollar back with the amount of shrimp we eat, and we always look forward to our next trip!
This is our regular hangout for Tuesday night dinner for all-you-can-eat fish and chips. Deep fried Alaskan Pollock. Everything was piping hot to the table. Extra pieces were just as hot and quick. The server was very attentive with refills of pop and coffee.
The batter was flimsy and the fish was not good at all. It was questionable just what species of fish we were eating. The fries were nothing special. Overall, a very overrated, poor seafood restaurant. However, I am from St. John's, so my standards for fish and chips may be higher than most.
