Most, if not, all of the food I ordered was watered down quite a bit. The chicken fried rice barely had any chicken in it. The chow mein is not traditional chow mein from other restauarants; they give you a bad of hard noodles and expect you to add in vegetables and meat they provide in another container. Overall, bad food, at a higher than average price.
The first time I visited Oriental Gardens was around this time last year. I went to lunch with a friend, and loved it! My plate was full and for only $11 It's a cute little place, obviously a family business. Which I love :) I usually order the number 10, along with some egg rolls. Personally, I think their eggrolls are 'Da bomb' Very good food, always hot. I've been reading a lot of reviews about bad customer service. But this has never been a problem for me. The girls are very nice. Though I do agree, that sometimes they are a bit too chatty with each other. Which is why I mostly order take out. I once walked over, and placed an order for take out. The girl said it'd be about 30 minutes. So I sat down and timed them (which I always do) I waited about 45 minutes for my food. But, I didn't blame them because it was very busy. I wouldn't recommend using their bathrooms... It's very dirty in there. I used it once, and swore never again. Overall... Great food! Good service! Awesome prices!
We have visited the oriental garden several times their food is excellent and service is great their prices are reasonable and comparable to other chinese restaurants their atmosphere is ok and they are busy and have thousands of customers from all over the city. Whenever we are not happy with something their staff has remedied the situation immediately, of course you have to tell them if there is a problem. We will continue going there, thank you from faithfull happy customers.
I had been reading the negative reviews. This business within the last couple of months have gone through a severe tragedy which may at time affect ones business and how they handle things. I have frequented this restaurant over the years and not once have seen such a display. They were relaxed, family oriented, extremely kind and quick along with great prices and great food. Please don't base your opinion on the last two comments as we are all human and go through rough spots in life.
NEVER in my life have I ever been so DISRESPECTED as a customer ever! I placed a simple order of noodles, chicken balls and white rice. The largest of quantities arrived with warning about size and cost only given for one of the 3. When I inquired with the server she denied any error of miscommunication. The manager went to get the owner who YELLED within 2m of my face was terribly UNPROFESSIONAL and told me after arguing that she would charge less and TAKE AWAY all of the food but the warned item (noodles). She then went into the Kitchen and swore. In the end ALL 5 of us were CHASED OUT of the building. *Word to the wise: Don't bother!
We ordered chicken fried rice and 2 orders of chicken balls. We were told 30 minutes for pick up but it was over 45. We got the food home and there was one 10oz bowl of sauce for 2 orders of chicken balls. When I called about it I was told that is the correct amount provided and we would have to pay for more if we needed it. I explained that we have NEVER run out of sauce before. Instead of offering more for free this time or trying to work something out, I was told to bad. I returned the one order of chicken balls that we did not have enough sauce for and the person at the counter didn't even acknowledge me. She opened the till, threw the money on the counter and threw the bag with the chicken balls on the counter behind her then she walked away. I couldn't believe it! She needs some serious training on customer service! I will NEVER go back and will tell everyone I know about it.
The Pho is best in town hands down and the staff is very friendly.
I've been to the Oriental Garden hundreds of times and the food is great! The pho is the best in town hands down because I have tasted every other pho in town and nothing compares. The Bun thit nuong (#94) is a vietnamese noodle bowl that is to die for, and the shanghai noodle is soooo yummy. I love it there and the girls who work and own the restaurant are friendly and fun. It is definitely one of my favourite restaurants!!!
If you can get over the fact that the staff is rude and very unprofessional this is the best chinese food in town!! I would never dine in...take out only.
The food was old, the staff was extremely slow. After one bite we wanted to throw up that's how horrible it was. We would never visit this restaurant again.
it was okay, it is definatly not the best in town but overall adequate
ive been to the oriental garden before and i will deffinately go again, the only thing i noticed and didnt really like, was the fact that there were 2 waitresses i noticed, and one girl, i think they were sisters..anyways though, the older one was yelling at the other girl, and not just loud talking, she was actually yelling at the one girl, i think the girl yelling was named rose, anyways that was the only thing i didnt appreciate
Definately the best chinese/vietnamese food in town. The restaurant is clearly a family-oriented environment, and maybe doesn't come off as the best professional restaurant in town, but it's the food that counts. Everytime I go there, customers would always complain about one thing, if not another. They don't see that the two, maybe three workers are running around, trying to do 50 other things as well. The customer is NOT always right. The service is great and really down to earth, no need to be rude.
The food is really good however, the girls (waitresses) should be more professional regarding their dress, hair and manners. It is very clear that this is a family runned restaurant because this would not be allowed at a chain restaurant.... (all workers watching t.v. or reading the lates magazine at the front table, go in the back, your customers do not need to see this or here your conversations).
poor servace, gross food, awful people, dirty, bugs on the ground crawling
the food is gross and spicy, the tables are dirty, poor servace, mean waiterreses, raw food, watreses are fooling around and not serving is .....it took 1 hour to bring out the spring rolls, and then the lady almost droped are iced teas! im never coming back to this chinese resterrant EVER again!!!!
the food was really good as it normally is but they made a mistake, i ordered a dish "not spicy" it came very spicy. we phoned and all the lady had to say was that it was not specified "not spicy". i phoned back the next day to ask for the manager (who was the girl that spoke with my husband) she apologized but insisted WE were wrong. i think she finally left me a credit for the dish but i may never know!
Fried spring roll --> too much oil. vietnamese rolls --> too much noodle in it and only one prawn in each roll. Pho beef = soup was too sweet. They put too much sugar in it. But luckily no MSG. I even had to ask for the herbs, which in normally standard for pho. Service= I wasn't finish with eating but the waitress already brought the bill and wanted to clean the table. Conclusion: I hope that is not the best vietnamese restaurant in town. I can imagine, that people, who live here think that is good, but honestly...it was the badest pho I ever had. I only would come back if I won't find a better restaurant in town or if am too sick to cook for myself then I would consider to come back, if I am in the mood for vietnamese food.
This place is incredible. the pho is really good, so is the 'chinese' stuff. Best vietnamese in town.
this is normally one of my favorite chinese places but it has let me down the last 3 times. It was an hour and a half for take out...which we picked up. the food was bland and cold. the chicken balls were seriously overcooked and there were actual burn marks on them. 2 came without chicken. Their special soup was only half full of the normal items and tasted watery. the phone call to place my order was chaotic as well. Perhaps they have just gotten too busy to keep up? 3 strikes and they're out
