We have come every year in December from Hamilton to Simcoe to see the Christmas lights. We stop at the Barrel Restaurant first, and it is a highlight of our trip: excellent food, excellent atmosphere. There is a very large menu, so I know people can order what they want and sometimes get something different from what they want. Suffice to say that I find the Penne Capri on par with meals served in Italy, and my husband and in-laws refuse to order anything other than the lasagna because they enjoy it so much every time. It was my first time there and loved it! I ordered the perch and fries (ate inside, so their great little buffet was included with my meal!) The perch was done to perfection, so tasty! The buffet was great, with the different salads and the amazing fruit to finish my meal off. I enjoyed the old pictures, so much history there! Our server was very friendly and most attentive. July 22 had an 86 th birthday dinner. I only now saw the bill I was having a problem with the card machine. Our server was the best I have ever been fortunate enough to meet. Her name was Christina. We loved her. Here is my big problem. I did not put the correct tip on the bill. I feel terrible. She deserved so much more.
