Whether you drink it iced or hot, coffee is the ultimate way to refresh and refuel. These downtown coffee shops are popular not only for their ambiance and convenient location, but also for their fantastic beans. You’ll remember every sip long after your caffeine buzz wears off.
Located smack dab in the middle of downtown, District Coffee Co is a haven for caffeine addicts. They serve up fantastic Americanos, cappuccinos and lattes, plus brewed coffee. Sample some of their fresh, house-made muffins, scones or cookies, and you’ll never want to leave. District Coffee Co is coffee connoisseur Nate Box’s follow-up to the popular Elm Café. But District is open longer, and actually has space to sit, making it the best choice if you like to linger while you sip your coffee.
Cookie Love Café serves you the espresso, latte or cappuccino of your dreams. Pair your favourite coffee with a homemade gourmet cookie and you’ll be ready to face your destiny, whatever that may be.
This underground hangout is super chic but cozy. With only a few tables, it fills up quickly. It’s a great spot to enjoy an espresso, especially if you like to pair your coffee with some cheese — they sell dozens of varieties. What better way to start your morning than a sharp espresso, fresh baked bread and a little Gouda? It’s also an awesome after-work spot to enjoy some caffeine and a snack to keep you trucking along for the rest of your evening.
A beloved institution in Edmonton, the original location of Credo is in the heart of the 104 Street Promenade. It’s always brimming with students, business people and friends enjoying delicious mochas and London fogs. They serve Intelligentsia direct trade coffee, and it is amazing. Lattes come with multiple milk options, including soy and almond, and their hot chocolate and mochas use locally made Jacek chocolate. Yum!
This location of Remedy is arguably the busiest, thanks to its fun vibe and spacious feel. The menu consists of fantastic Indian cuisine done casually — chana masala wraps, butter chicken with rice served in cute dishes, and vegan and gluten-free cakes. Their Chai lattes are legendary, and for good reason – the Chai syrup is made in-house and can’t be matched by any store bought stuff. While they are licensed, you’ll be drawn more to the chai and their regular lattes than you will be to the beer selection.
